Hydrocephalus Treatment

The plumbing system in question is one that produces and drains cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Normal CSF is like water from a tap, but is created from the blood circulation in the choroid plexus tissue in three of the four chambers of the inner brain – right and left ‘lateral’ ventricles and the midline ‘fourth’ ; ventricle but did not interrupt in the midline ventricle ‘third party’. The MCA is filtered through the corridors of one ventricle to another, finally emerging through openings at the base of the brain to bathe the outer surface of the brain and spinal cord before getting absorbed into the bloodstream again. This re-absorption occurs in the special collection of nodes in the membranes surrounding the brain. The total CSF volume of approximately five ounces or 150 milliliters (almost as much as a glass of wine) is produced and absorbed four times a day, so the liquid is constantly spinning.

However, the blocks in the path may interfere with the normal flow of CSF. For example, when the passageway between the third and fourth ventricles becomes narrowed or choked with mud, the CRL based on the lateral ventricles and third. The ventricles react to the increasing pressure to become physically dilated or enlarged. In this case, a CT or MRI can reveal the location of the obstruction, showing the expansion of both lateral ventricles and the third single, but normal sized fourth ventricle. Another example of a blockade and its consequences is when the collection of nodes responsible for re-absorption of CSF into the membrane covering the brain (meninges) that are covered. In this case, the four ventricles are upstream of the blockage, and the four of them expand. This is also visible in brain scans.

Both cases are examples of Hydrocephalus treatment, or water on the brain. The first case is one of the ‘internal’ or high-pressure hydrocephalus. The second is called ‘external’ or normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH). In NPH normal pressure, inexplicably, most of the time, but the term is somewhat misleading, because the prolonged pressure monitors records show intermittent periods of increased pressure.
